                         Veterans Week Flag Raising Glasgow

                                    13/06/24 George Square.

The Chairman and Honorary Secretary of the Glasgow & West of Scotland Branch attended the Flag Raising Ceremony for Veterans Week at Glasgow’s George Square.

The Lord Lieutenant of Glasgow the Lord Provost Mrs Sadie Docherty opened the Veterans Week with a warm speech of welcome to all the dignitaries and the veterans who attended the parade. In the City of Glasgow the post of Lord Lieutenant is the civic duty of the Lord Provost.

As the Veterans Flag was raised above the City Chambers the parade stood to attention as the Bugler played reveille followed by a Lone Piper playing the Flowers of The Forest. This is the beginning of a week of awareness for the general public as several Veteran based events are conducted.
