Minutes of Branch Meeting 28th February 2020

The Chairman welcomed the members to the meeting.
The Chairman then informed the members that he had attended the meeting of the Association of Perth Veterans which was held in the ex-service man’s club on the 22nd Feb. He informed the members that the money for the War memorial had been granted and that it was planned to have the memorial in place by the 10th May.
The Chairman also informed the meeting that there will be a VE Day Parade held in Perth on the 10th May, this will include a church service at 11:00 in St Johns Kirk, with the unveiling of the war memorial at 12:30 this will be followed by a Civic reception.
Brigadier Mel Jamieson is to be asked to do the unveiling, it is also hoped to have 2 veterans of World War 2 involved in the unveiling as well.
The Secretary gave a brief report on the upcoming VE day celebrations which are being held in Edinburgh and Glasgow on Friday the 8th May.
The Secretary informed the meeting that he had emailed Perth Rotary requesting information and process for applying for a stall on their annual summer fayre. Secretary of Perth Rotary has replied, and our request has been forwarded onto the committee that look after the allocation of the stalls.

The Account continues to have a healthy balance.
Mr Stirton told the members about plans to hold a night out for members Willie Alexander, Tom Cochrane, Duncan Forbes and John Kirk as a way thanking them for all their hard work, time and effort when holding their various positions within the branch.
Mr Cochrane informed the members that Alan Peacock is undergoing radiotherapy treatment for cancer. A card and flowers are to be bought and sent to Alan and his wife.
The members were also informed that Jim Carcary’s wife had passed away.
Mr Ian Munro informed the members that Brian Duff, ex 212 Sqn had passed away and that he had attended the funeral.

Mr Kirk asked about a donation of £150 which was donated to the sea cadets when minutes from a previous meeting had indicated that £100 would be donated. Chairman outlined the reason why the amount was changed.
Mr Kirk asked that when we have next pie and bean night that we use the meat held over from the last BBQ, matter to be raised with Mr Stirton.
Mr Forbes informed the meeting that his wife had sent out an email informing branches that the regional website is not being used and it is costing money and it may be better to post items on Face book. Item was discussed by members who would still like to use the website.
Mr Forbes advised the members that Lt Col R Moore has been invited and will be attending the Regional dance in May.
The Chairman advised the members that he has invited the Provost of Perth to Regional dance, confirmation of attendance will be given by next meeting.
